Yoga in Preschools

Together we set up our mats in a circle to create a group experience where we can all see each other. All children are given their own mat/space.

We start the session always with the same welcome song, practice some breathing techniques before getting up and moving our bodies to a dance, sun salutation, before having some fun with scarves, stories, new poses etc.

All children are given the opportunity to participate and they know the routine, so having the same objects each week brings anticipation and repetition which helps the children to know what is happening.

We talk a lot about our feelings, what our bodies need, the world around us, how we treat each other and so much more. Usually the Centre focus is brought in, or specific days and weeks of the year which always adds for some fun.

Teachers love the fact there is always something new in the session, yet it’s also the same routine. Parents adore the photos that get put on display and hear so much about yoga time at preschool so it’s a well-loved event each week.
A fun-filled 30-minute session.

As a preschool teacher Stacey has a great understanding of how to engage and inspire young children. Using a range of Yoga exercises and resources the sessions are always fun and interesting. The benefits of relaxation, body awareness and breathing exercises has shown to be of great value to our children’s' wellbeing.

Would the tamariki at your Christchurch preschool love to be part of the Tribe?
